SJSU Fall 2023 CPGE Graduation Celebration

Congratulations graduates from the Department of Applied Data Science and the School of Information. Join your fellow CPGE graduates, faculty, and staff at this graduation celebration!

ABOUT THE EVENT

The Graduation Celebration is brought to you by the College of Professional and Global Education. The Celebration is purposely scheduled a few hours before the Commencement to allow time for graduates to mingle with fellow graduates and faculty. Activities during the celebration include photo booth sessions, exploring iSchool technology, and more. Light refreshments will be served. You may bring 4 guest with you to the celebration.

Location: Diaz Compean Student Union Ballroom (2nd Floor)

One Washington Sq, San Jose, CA 95192

Time: 3:30pm - 5:30pm. The event will end promptly at 5:30pm

Please Note: NO helium balloons are allowed in the Student Union Ballroom. Only registered service animals will be allowed in the venue.

How will parking arrangements work?

Will food be provided?

Yes, light refreshments and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided, and we will take into consideration allergies and dietary restrictions. Please contact us if you have specific dietary needs. 

How far is the Student Union Ballroom and the Commencement venue? 

Our celebration will be held in the Student Union, just 2 building away from the Commencement venue, which will be held in the Provident Credit Union Event Center. Directional signs guiding you to the reception will be posted by the staff on the day of the event. A supplemental campus map will also be sent to you before the event.

What is the expected attire?

Graduating students are allowed to attend in their academic regalia, but it is not a requirement. If you choose not to dress in academic regalia, please dress in business casual.  

Can I invite more than 4 guests?

Please limit your guests to 4. If additional guest capacity becomes available, the event organizing committee will reach out to you. 

What time will doors open for the event?

The event will open promptly at 3:30 pm. Feel free to arrive at the event any time before the event officially ends at 5:30 pm.

Can I bring children to the event?

Yes, as long as children are supervised by an adult, there is no age limit for children attending the event. 

Is the event accessible?

Yes, there are accessible entrances into the building, as well as elevators leading to the event space. 

Are alumni allowed to attend the event?

Unfortunately, the reception is reserved for current graduates, but alumni may attend as guests of graduates. 

Am I required to be vaccinated to attend the event?

Currently, there are no vaccination requirements in order to attend the event. Mask wearing at the event is strongly encouraged, but not required. 

Am I required to attend the event in order to receive my degree?

No, this is a social event, and no degrees will be awarded. 

Do I need to have a physical or mobile ticket to enter the venue?

No physical or mobile tickets are required. Please RSVP for yourself and guests through this event page to secure your spot. On the day of the event, check-in will be required at the front desk outside of the Student Union Ballroom.
